  • One 18.3-ounce box brownie mix, such as Duncan Hines
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup natural crunchy almond butter
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted and cooled slightly
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky salt

Directions for Almond Butter Brownies

  1. For the brownies: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch glass baking pan with coconut oil and set aside.
  2. Combine the brownie mix with the eggs, oil and 1/4 cup water in a large bowl. Stir together using a rubber spatula until fully incorporated. Spread in the prepared pan.
  3. For the topping: Combine the almond butter, powdered sugar and coconut oil in a separate bowl. Spoon dollops of this mixture over the top of the brownie batter. Using a toothpick, swirl the two together. Bake until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted an inch from the edge of the pan comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes. In some parts of the world, such as much of Central Africa and West Africa, and most parts of China, there is no tradition of a dessert course to conclude a meal. The term dessert can apply to many confections, such as biscuits, cakes, cookies, custards, gelatins, ice creams, pastries, pies, puddings, macaroons, sweet soups, tarts and fruit salad. Fruit is also commonly found in dessert courses because of its naturally occurring sweetness. Some cultures sweeten foods that are more commonly savory to create desserts.
